The Project
I am a Principal Teaching Fellow in the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds. I will be using a sabbatical in 2009 to develop a learning and teaching and curriculum development strategy for responding to the challenges and opportunities facing higher education over the next 10 to 15 years as outlined in the commissioned papers for the Future of Higher Education debate sponsored by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skill (DIUS). The focus will be upon the development of degree programmes and modules in the School.
I will be using this blog to report and reflect upon the project. The key issues and topics will be developed in pages in a Google Site, HE Futures, linked to via the blogroll in the sidebar. The emphasis will be on the On-Line Higher Education Learning, Teaching and the Student Experience, Part-time Studies and Demographic Challenges reports. However, the developed strategy will also be relevant for other issues, particularly those of internationalisation and integrating teaching and research. The discussion reports are:
